Technical Outline of the Session: With the rapid technological developments power electronic converters are involved in various power system applications, ranging from generation, storage, and transmission to consumption exclusively in smart grids and renewable energy systems. It is very challenging to achieve high voltage gain at good efficiency. Apart from this, the control performance is always severely affected by parameter uncertainties and external disturbances. It is imperative to develop reliable, advanced power electronic converters and controllers that can provide a high voltage gain with an exceptional voltage regulation. Power converters link the loads to the sources and operate the active loads in both grid connected and stand alone modes. Hence, power electronics-based conversion system is needed for various energy sources, including fuel cells, wind energy systems, solar PV systems and CHP systems to meet the smart grid demand and other distribution systems.
Topics of Session: The special session is aimed to provide knowledge on advanced novel power electronic converter topologies and control strategies for the intelligent grids. Original technical articles and state of art review articles are invited. The topics of interest include, but not limited to,
Multiport DC-DC converters for smart grid applications
Multilevel inverters for smart grid applications
Smart control strategies for smart grid
FACTS Controllers for smart grid applications
Various power converters for hybrid renewable energy systems in smart grid
